MUSIC!

LESTER BANGS: Here’s a theory for you to disregard (laughs)…completely…MUSIC!!   It chooses you!, you know, it lives in your car or alone with your headphones, with the vast scenic bridges and angelic choirs in your brain, you know, it’s a place apart from the benign life (or laugh?) of America.

ALICE: It’s quite an honour to have the world’s greatest rock critic and editor of Cream magazine back home in San Diego for a few days.

[music plays in the background]

LESTER BANGS: The Doors? Jim Morrison? He’s a drunken buffoon, posing as a poet!

ALICE: [angry] I like the Doors.

LESTER BANGS: Aw, gimme the Guess Who, they got the courage to be druken buffoons!

Which makes them poetic. Now gimme some White Light, White Heat… [browsing

through the LPs on the shelf] Iggy Pop!! Amen!!

(mumble) Oh just gotta put this on…this place…

[starts to dance and move frantically in a way that makes Willian laugh]

ALICE: This is Alice Leeson for the San Diego radio …blah blah

From Cameron Crowe’s

ALMOST FAMOUS (2000)

This epitomises better than anything I know what the 60s and for that matter music mean to me. Thank you Cameron Crowe!
